Intimations Sunday 3rd November 2019

A warm welcome is extended to any visitors to our Communion service today.

Bible study will meet tomorrow in Hamilton Hall at 11am

House Group will meet tomorrow at 1.30pm.

Girls Brigade will meet here tomorrow night.

Focus will meet here on Thursday at 1.45pm when the speaker will be Jessie Shaw.

Next Sunday 10th November will be Remembrance Sunday and services will be held at Netherburn Cenotaph at 10.45am. Ashgill Cenotaph at 11am approximately and then here in Dalserf at 11.30am. Mr Andrew Steven Deputy Lieutenant will be present at these services. There will be a retiring offering today for RAF Benevolent Fund and Poppy Scotland and also next Sunday after the service in Dalserf. Last year the Church sent £140 to each. Let’s see if we can exceed that this year.

Shoebox Appeal – 44 boxes were taken to Chalmers Church from Dalserf Congregation. Thank you to all who contributed to this worthy cause.

2020 Diaries are now available and can be picked up today.

Any items for the December Newsletter must be in the hands of the Editor by next Sunday
10th November. There will be no Newsletter in January.

Week Beginning 7th November 2019

St Machan’s Guild are holding a fashion evening by Taylor Fashions on 19th November. Tickets £3.00. For further information speak to Kay or Ann.

On Saturday 23rd November at 2pm. St Mary’s Episcopal Church in Hamilton are hosting a LIGHTS TO REMEMBER SERVICE. You can celebrate the life of a loved one this Christmas by placing a card with their name on the Christmas tree. Tea, coffee, homemade mince pies and shortbread will be available. Entry is free. This is organised by Marie Curie.

Thank you for the great number of shoe boxes. These will be taken for uplift on Friday.

This coming Friday 1st November in Hamilton Old Parish Church at 7pm. “Whose word is it anyway” An evening of bible-inspired improvised comedy, presented by teams from the Hamilton Churches. Tickets are £5.00 and refreshments will be on sale at the interval.

Next Sunday 3rd November Communion will take place here in Dalserf at 11.30am and then at Rorison at 2.30pm.
There will be the opportunity to make a donation to the RAF Benevolent Fund and Poppy Scotland on both Sunday the 3rd, Communion Sunday, and on the 10th, Remembrance Sunday. Last year the church sent £140 to each. Let’s see if we can exceed that figure this year.
Congratulations to our Organist Philip who has received an award from Carsairs State Hospital marking 49 years voluntary service as a weekly visitor.

Sunday Worship on 3rd November, will take place in Dalserf Church at 11.30am and Rorison Church, Ashgill at 2.3pm. The Sacrament of the Lord’s Supper will take place at both services and be will be conducted by Revd John Stevenson. The choir will meet in Dalserf at 10.30am
There will be an opportunity to donate to the #earl Haig fund and Poppy Scotland at the end of both Services.

Girls Brigade will meet tomorrow night in Rorison

At the Kirk Session meeting on Tuesday in Rorison. It was agreed to appoint Revd John Stevenson as our Interim Moderator, The Kirk Session voted on whether to remain with the practice of the Church of Scotland regarding same sex relationships in relation to the vacancy or to depart from same. I have to inform you that the decision of the Kirk Session was to remain.

Our Guild will meet on Wednesday when the speaker will be Adventures in Curling by Aileen and Michael Neilson.

From Wednesday of this week 23rd October to Saturday 26th October Glasgow Light Opera will perform ALL SHOOK UP, a Shakespearean story adapted and inspired by and featuring the songs of Elvis Presley.

This Friday 25th October Cleland Parish Church are having an EVENING OF SONG with Stonehouse Male Voice Choir. Doors are open 7pm Cost is £5.00 payable at the door.

Our local Nursing Homes will be visited this Friday. Beginning with Clinton House at 1.45pm.

This coming Saturday 26th October here in Dalserf Church there will be a Memorial Service conducted by the Revd John Stevenson in memory of Margaret Wilson. After the service there will be a light lunch served in Hamilton Hall provided by the Guild of which Margaret was a much loved member.

It is that time of year again and whilst Christmas is still some months away, the Shoebox Appeal has to get under way. Lily has the details for this. The boxes have to be filled and be here in the Church for the last Sunday in October 27th. We will then take them for delivery on Friday 1st November. If possible please include an envelope with £2.00 to help with transportation.

Our Harvest Lunch took place yesterday in Hamilton Hall. There was a great turn out and our grateful thanks go to those people who attended. The food served was excellent and our thanks go to Kay for her co-ordination of this, to those ladies s& gentlemen who provided the food and to those who helped serve it and clear up at the end. The amount raised was £865.00. This will be shared with Kilbride Hospice and Rachel House. However if you still wish to make a donation to these charities it is not too late. Just put it in an envelope and pass to Kay or Lily.

Hilton Bradey has successfully undergone hip replacement surgery yesterday and we are delighted to report he is doing well. Please keep Hilton and Linda in your thoughts and prayers.

Grateful thanks to those people who turned up at 11am on Tuesday morning and helped to bag and deliver the produce to the Foodbank. Many thanks.

There will be a Session Meeting on Tuesday 15th October with representatives from Hamilton Presbytery.

Harvest Lunch will take place in Hamilton Hall on Saturday 12.30pm – 1pm. All money raised will go the Kilbride Hospice and Rachel House. Sorry there are no places left for this.
But if anyone would care to make a donation to these two charities it will be gratefully received.
