Introduction to the Congregational Policies
Dalserf Parish Church of Scotland
As a congregation of the Church of Scotland, we are called to be a community of faith that reflects the love and justice of Jesus Christ. Central to this mission is the “deep concern for the wholeness and wellbeing of each individual” as expressed in the Acts of the General Assembly.
The following index of policies serves as a practical framework for our shared life. These documents are not merely administrative requirements; they are a tangible expression of our stewardship—caring for the people, resources, and reputation God has entrusted to us. While these policies fulfil our legal obligations as a registered Scottish Charity (SC016156), they primarily ensure that our worship, witness, and work are conducted with transparency, safety, and integrity.
Our Governance Principles
To ensure we remain “a safe Church for all,” our policies are built upon four pillars:
Safeguarding: Prioritising the protection of children and protected adults through the PVG (Protection of Vulnerable Groups) scheme and safe recruitment.
Legal Compliance: Adhering to the Data Protection Act (GDPR), Health and Safety legislation, and the requirements of the Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator (OSCR).
Inclusion and Equality: Striving to be an accessible community where all are treated with dignity, regardless of background or identity.
Accountability: Ensuring the Kirk Session, as the charity trustees, provides clear oversight and regular reviews of these guidelines.
