Call to Worship

MP 237
Holy, holy, holy
Lord God almighty
Early in the morning my song shall rise to thee
Holy. holy, holy merciful and mighty
God in three persons, blessed Trinity

Holy, holy, holy
All the saints adore Thee
Casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea
All the cherubim and seraphim are falling down before Thee
Which wert and art and evermore shalt be

Holy, holy, holy
Though the darkness hide Thee
Though the eyes of sinful man Thy glory may not see
Only Thou art holy, there is none beside Thee
Perfect in power, in love and purity

Holy, holy, holy
Lord God almighty
All Thy works shall praise Thy name in earth and sky and sea
Holy, holy, holy
Merciful and mighty
God in three persons, blessed Trinity

Prayer of Approach & Confession

MP 575
Rejoice, the Lord is King! Your Lord and King adore;
mortals give thanks and sing, and triumph evermore;
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

Jesus, the saviour, reigns, the God of truth and love;
when he had purged our stains he took his seat above;
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

His kingdom cannot fail, he rules both earth and heaven,
the keys of death and hell are to our Jesus given;
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

He sits at God’s right hand till all his foes submit,
and bow to his command, and fall beneath his feet:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

Rejoice in glorious hope! Jesus the Judge shall come,
and take his servants up to their eternal home.
We soon shall hear the archangel’s voice;
God’s trumpet call shall sound, rejoice!

READINGS
Psalm 16 Mike Taylor
Acts 2: vs 14 & 22-23 Karyn Scotland
John 20: 19-31 Heather Scotland

MP 683
There’s a wideness in God’s mercy,
like the wideness of the sea;
there’s a kindness in his justice
which is more than liberty.

There is no place where earth’s sorrows
are more keenly felt than heaven:
there is no place where earth’s failings
have such gracious judgement given.

There is plentiful redemption
through the blood that Christ has shed;
there is joy for all the members
in the sorrows of the head.

For the love of God is broader
than the measure of our mind;
and the heart of the eternal
is most wonderfully kind.

If our love were but more simple,
we should take him at his word;
and our lives would be illumined,
by the glory of the Lord.

SERMON

MP76
‘Christ, the Lord, is risen today!’ – Hallelujah!
All creation join to say: – Hallelujah!
Raise your joys and triumphs high; – Hallelujah!
Sing, you heavens, and earth reply: – Hallelujah!

Love’s redeeming work is done!
Fought the fight, the battle won:
see, our Sun’s eclipse has passed,
see, the light returns at last!

Vain the stone, the watch, the seal:
Christ has burst the gates of hell;
death in vain forbids him rise
Christ has opened paradise:

Lives again our glorious King;
where, O death, is now your sting?
Once he died, our souls to save;
where’s your victory, boasting grave?

Soar we now where Christ has led,
following our exalted Head;
made like him, like him we rise;
ours the cross, the grave, the skies:

Hail the Lord of earth and heaven!
Praise to you by both be given;
every knee to you shall bow,
risen Christ, triumphant now!

MP 689
Thine be the glory
Risen conquering Son
Endless is the victory
Thou o’er death hast won
Angels in bright raiment
Rolled the stone away
Kept the folded grave clothes
Where Thy body lay
Refrain-Thine be the glory
Risen conquering Son
Endless is the victory
Thou o’er death hast won

Lo! Jesus meets us
Risen from the tomb
Lovingly, He greets us
Scatters fear and gloom
Let the church with gladness
Hymns of triumph sing
For her Lord now liveth
Death hath lost its sting –Refrain

No more we doubt Thee
Glorious Prince of life
Life is naught without Thee
Aid us in our strife
Make us more than conquerors
Through Thy deathless love
Bring us safe through Jordan
To Thy home above-Refrain

Benediction
Three fold Amen

Our service next Sunday will be conducted by Revd Cameron McPherson

Two years ago today we held worship here in Dalserf for the last time before the Covid regulations prevented us from using this building.
We were very fortunate in our Locum at the time Revd John Stevenson and his son in law who stepped in and provided us with recorded services. Who knows what we as a congregation would have done without John and Ewan. They provided us with, prayers, readings, a sermon all accompanied by beautiful singing, and in doing so gave us wonderful memories at a time when all of us were low and in need of comfort. We thank God for all like them who provided this service. We now go forward with God and pray that we will be able to continue with our worship and fellowship in the future.

UKRAINIAN DISASTER
The Kirk Session has agreed to send £1000 from the Benevolent Fund to the Ukrainian Refugee Appeal.
Individual members are encouraged, if they have not already done so, to donate to the relief of suffering in this appalling humanitarian disaster.
The concentration of grief that appears daily in the media should motivate us all to respond in an open handed manner during this time of crisis.

GUIDLINES FOR PLACES OF WORSHIP
Scottish Government and Church of Scotland guidance for places of worship during the present Pandemic is about to change within the next two weeks.
As we come out of this 2 year period of regulations and restrictions let’s give God all the praise for our safety, give thanks to all who have worked tirelessly to bring us to where it is now and remember all who have suffered illness and loss.
May we continue to have the safety of others in mind and do all we can to respect each other and keep each other safe.

Dedication of Memorial Plaque

Sunday 6th March a memorial plaque commemorating all the lives lost during the pandemic, in our congregation and surrounding community, was dedicated by Revd John Stevenson. A floral tribute was laid by Linda Marshall.

The plaque is situated just inside the main gate at the notice board and is a constant reminder of the catastrophic nature of the pandemic and its effect on not only our community but around the world. As inscribed on the plaque,

“The souls of the righteous are in God’s hands”
