Dear friends,
 On Sunday 25 October Dalserf was honoured to host the Annual Founder’s Day Parade for the Hamilton Battalion of the Boys’ Brigade. It was a great joy and encouragement to see the church so full. I don’t know when I last saw the centre gallery so well occupied. I am sure no one present at the service could have failed to be impressed by the behaviour of the boys. They showed a high degree of respect and attentiveness. It is good to know that the Boys’ Brigade movement in our area is still alive and well even if depleted compared with its strength in previous generations.
It looks as though November is going to be a fairly eventful month churchwise. It begins with communion on Sunday 1 November and will end with a family service on Advent Sunday (29th.) led by MAD Ministries. The second Sunday(8th.) is Remembrance Sunday with the two acts of remembrance at the war memorials prior to the service. There will possibly be a service of admission of new elders on 15th or 22nd. On Friday 20th there will be a concert in Dalserf Church with the Belshill Corps of the Salvation Army.
It was intimated a few weeks ago that volunteers were requested to assist elders in distributing newsletters every month. Some elders are able to do this without any problem others due to heavy commitments with respect to work and family life or for health reasons find it more difficult. As far as I am aware there has been no response so far to this and so I make it here with the hope that perhaps one or two (or more?) who did not hear the first intimation may read this and respond positively. Another appeal which has been made in the past without response is for someone to be in charge of video recording of services. At present Sharon and I try to do this between us but for different reasons often the service does not get recorded.
As from the start of 2010 we will require a newsletter editor or editors since the December Newsletter will be last that Andrew and Sheena Paul will be producing, having carried out this important task faithfully for many years. Dalserf Church owes a great debt to Andrew and Sheena for their service in this regard. Thank you Andrew and Sheena!
